Abstract

This work aims at carrying out an overview of literary press from the state of in the 19th century. This way, we proposed to measure its specificities and the consolidation of this field in society. To achieve this objective, we focused on the literary newspapers printed in Maranhão that are available for consultation in the Hemeroteca Digital. The chosen scope of this research (1820-1900) ranges from the installation of the first typography in São Luís/MA until the end of the 19th century. This research is located in the field of historiography that deals with the 19th century press and seeks to contribute with new problematizations about Maranhão society.

Doutoranda em História pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. Interesse de pesquisa nos temas: Gênero, Trajetórias, Imprensa e tendo como enfoque a trajetória de Maria Firmina dos Reis no século XIX. É pesquisadora associada ao Núcleo de Estudos em História Social da Politica (NEHSP- UFJF) atuando na linha Mulheres e a escrita da História.
