Matrix, metaverse and education: are we transitioning to new formative and digital scenarios?

Technology in the educational context is undeniable and irreversible as well as human life, revealing several challenges in the passage of time. In view of this, the article aims, from the compilation of the history of the internet, to tell the technological advances to the idea of metaverse, propagated as an evolution of the internet, a possibility that discusses to be the future of humanity and taking into account the classic Matrix (1999) as a contextual strategy and convergence of digital culture. Using a qualitative approach, as well as the descriptive and exploratory design in the incursion of “how metaverse is inserted in education”. It is reiterated that, more than an understanding of a technology in education, it is necessary to walk in the discussion of models for multidimensional knowledge in a transitory state.
