Abstract

This article explores the uses of history by video games through a case study anchored in The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante (TLSSB), a game developed by the Russian company Sever Studio in 2021. From these respective studies, the following concerns come to light: how do electronic games relate to history and manipulate it to create forms of entertainment? By employing a descriptive method, this article analyses the artefact to elucidate its gameplay or, in other words, how the game makes its story playable. Ultimately, we concluded that games like TLSSB engage players not only to entertain them but also to offer them historical experimentation in a gamified way.
