The present research has as main objective to analyse the signs, symbols and images presented in Gone With the Wind (1939), by Victor Flemming, that put the work’s protagonist, Scarlet O’hara, as representation of the United States economy on the forward years after the III American Civil War, known as the Secession War. The metodology used wore the french-ligned Greimasian Semiotics Theory, considering Barros (2005) studies about the thematic. The theoretical foundation is guided by Karnal (2007) and Lepore (2018), about the historical referencies, concerning to the Secession North-American War and followings Years, occurred the economic reestablishment. As results, have been obtained that Scarlet O’Hara’s life is figuratively the process of industrial implementation in the core of the statunian economy, represented by hers multiple marriages with different men. As final considerations, have been obtained that the poorness of hers is a representation of the Secession and that the marriages refeer to the fases of the industrializing of United States South during Reconstruction.
