This opinion piece aims to reflect on the challenges faced by an educator amid the advancement of AI in education, exploring feelings of obsolescence while reaffirming the importance of the human role in the teaching and learning process. The writing combines vulnerability and resilience, inviting the reader to reflect on the future of education and the place of teachers in this scenario. The article explores the possibilities of humanizing public schools through AI, advocating an optimistic and ethical view of the use of technology in education. The article is based on a qualitative approach, grounded in the critical-reflective analysis of academic publications and recent news about the use of Artificial Intelligence in education. Sources were selected that cover national and international perspectives, prioritizing texts published in the last five years to ensure timeliness and relevance. In addition to the literature review, the argument was constructed based on comparisons between different experiences of AI implementation in educational contexts, with special attention to ethical, pedagogical, and equity aspects. The methodology therefore adopts an essayistic character, in which the selection and interpretation of evidence are linked to the author's experience and critical positioning, in order to support informed opinions and promote public debate.
