The suggested hypothesis is that the manga we read conveys important world information about the feminine as a historical subject. Furthermore, it's important to understand that manga are reading objects that convey conceptions of women that can be explored in the cultural studies we've been developing in the Literature, Fiction, and Materiality research group. Despite having sold over 50 million copies worldwide, Garasu no Kamen (1976) has yet to be adapted into Portuguese. NANA (2000) has won awards, such as the Shogakukan Manga Award. Our research aims to examine both works through textual analysis and bibliographical references, examining the concept of the double as a literary concept that conveys mirroring of characters. The text will also provide a brief bibliographical review of the feminine from 1970 to the present day in Japan, focusing on the double, and establish a diachronic perspective on the historical feminine portrayed in both manga.
