The extended man paradigm
transhumanist reflections on Ghost in the Shell, Metropolis and Akira

The objective is to promote interdisciplinary reflections on the augmented human and transhumanism, based on the case of three classic cyberpunk animations: Ghost in the Shell, Metropolis, and Akira. Using a qualitative documentary research method, through the compilation of excerpts from the films, associated with the theoretical frameworks of Merhy (1997), Heidegger (1971), Haraway (2009), Le Guin (2022), among others, a three-stage Content Analysis was carried out. In the deepening of reflections, two interpretive-speculative categories were constructed. The cyborg is one of the Promethean figures that standardizes the augmented body. The apex of social vulnerabilities, uberization, the intentionality of hard technologies, and the loss of space of Living Labor along with etherealization are central themes that follow in the wake of the social paradigm of the augmented human.
