Digital natives and games: a new approach to teaching History in the 21st century

This article discusses the use of digital games as an innovative tool in history education, with an emphasis on the potential of these resources. Exploring the often-associated lack of motivation in traditional classrooms, the research highlights the need for revitalizing pedagogical strategies. The study analyzes games such as Assassin’s Creed, Valiant Hearts, Age of Empires, Civilization, and Battlefield, showcasing the evolution of these forms of entertainment into educational tools with realistic graphics and engaging narratives. Considering the challenges of history education, this article proposes a dynamic and updated approach, recognizing the pedagogical potential of digital games as catalysts to rekindle students' interest in this discipline.
